Vagus Nerve Stimulation system
Vagus Nerve Stimulation (VNS) system is an implantable miniature pulse generator system used for treating refractory epilepsy. A pulse generator emits electrical impulses to the left cervical vagus nerve to stimulate the nerve, helping with the control of epileptic symptoms and seizure frequency. Its composition includes a pulse generator and an electrode. At present, over 130,000 patients globally are implanted with a VNS system to treat refractory epilepsy. The number of epileptic attacks in over 50% patients may be reduced by more than half, and the effectiveness of control is increased over time. PINS VNS system has been approved for marketing since May 2016 and has been used in over 60 hospitals nationally, bringing good news for Chinese patients with refractory epilepsy.
